Jonathan Gregory earned an MA in textile history/quilt studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he is also pursuing a doctorate with an emphasis in quilt studies.
Jonathan's research topics include Kansas quiltmaker Rose Kretsinger and quiltmaking for the families of American military personnel killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. He also has researched and contributed content to the first volume of International Quilt Study Center & Museum's catalog funded by the Getty Foundation. In addition, Mr. Gregory assists with the preparation and installation of the Center's exhibitions.

Merikay Waldvogel (Knoxville, Tennessee) is a nationally known quilt authority with books, exhibitions, articles and television appearances to her credit. She is best known for her published works on 1930s quilts including: "Soft Covers for Hard Times: Quiltmaking and the Great Depression" and "Patchwork Souvenirs of the 1933 Chicago World's Fair". She was the 2003 Visiting Faculty Scholar at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum.

Dr. Marks holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom. She has studied and presents lectures regarding art and design history, particularly the divisions that occur within the arts and crafts, and feminist debate. She currently is the Chair of Selectors for the British Quilt Study Group and a 2007 Visiting Scholar at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum. Her research interests include the study of historic and contemporary British quiltmaking.

Michael James, Chair of UNL's Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design, Textiles Artist and quilter delivered this lecture at the opening of the exhibition "Give and Take". This exhibition featured quilts created by artists who have been instructors, students or both at the Quilt Surface Design Symposium (QSDS). The QSDS is a two-week educational program for non-traditional quilters held each year in Columbus, Ohio. The show celebrated the importance of the teacher and student relationship among quilt artists. The work of a representative group of professional quilt artists was paired with work of their students.

Virginia Gunn is a professor of clothing, textiles, and interiors in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences at The University of Akron. She teaches courses in historic costume, history of fashion, history of interior design, textile conservation, and material-culture studies. She is curator of the school's historic costume and textile collection.
Dr. Gunn received her B.S. from Kansas State University, Summa Cum Laude; her M.S. from Syracuse University, and her PhD. in History from The University of Akron. She served on the board of directors of the American Quilt Study Group for ten years and was president from 1990 to 1993. She was the editor of Uncoverings, the annual volume of research papers for AQSG, from 1994 to 2003. She is also a member of the International Textile and Apparel Association and the Costume Society of America.
