Mina Kuthe's All American Signature Quilt features the embroidered signatures of more than 150 prominent Americans. The signatures represent prominent individuals and significant events happening in the mid-1970s. Kuthe mentions one in particular in a letter sent to all of the contributors after the quilt was complete, Kuthe wrote: "I sent letters to prominent Americans in all walks of life including persons involved in Watergate [political scandal] . . . The swatches signed by the Nixon family, six in all, were in my mail the morning former President Nixon resigned. It may be one of his last signatures while in Office. I thought it was very thoughtful of them to sign my swatches with everything else that they had to do just then."
Other names listed on the quilt include Ronald Reagan, astronaut Neil Armstrong, baseball players Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle, evangelist Billy Graham, and a host of celebrities including Carol Burnett, Phyllis Diller, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Walters, John Wayne, artist Norman Rockwell, and piano virtuoso Liberace.
