Ludy Strauss

Ludy Strauss

In 1980, curator Ludy Strauss asked ten blue-chip California artists to design quilts, which were then executed (i.e., their fabrics sourced, dyed, printed, cut, sewn, embroidered) by quilters in Halifax, Nova Scotia. UNL’s Archives hold ephemera (sketches, photos, writings, etc.) related to the project, and the IQSCM owns most of the quilts. In addition to these textiles, the exhibition will feature sculpture, works on paper, photographs, and other objects by the ten artists: Peter Alexander, Charles Arnoldi, Tony Berlant, Ron Cooper, Guy Dill, Laddie John Dill, Claire Falkenstein, Charles Garabedian, Craig Kauffman, and Ken Price.
