My Doll and I Explore Quilt Patterns with Kit
Saturday, September 24, 2016
Session 1: 10 a.m.-Noon
Session 2: 1:30-3:30 p.m.
We will explore the exhibition "Inside the Wrapper: The True Tales of the Mountain Mist Quilt Patterns" with instructor Sheila Green.
The class will be based on the 1930s, using quilts in the exhibition and dolls (including the historical American Girl dolls Kit and Ruthie, from 1934 and other dolls from my collection). We'll learn about the Great Depression, giving and resourcefulness. The students will stitch a Reporter's bag (just like Kits) to hold a notebook, pencil (like the young writer in the story line) and newspaper. We'll make bookmarks featuring quilt designs of the 1930s. Activities, games and snacks from the period will be included.
The children are encouraged to bring their favorite doll.
Cost: $15 general admission or $12 for members plus $7 materials fee. Call 402-472-5649 to reserve your spot.
