Friends of the IQSCM's “Featherweight Frenzy” with JC and Pam Elliott and Nova Montgomery

Description: "Featherweight Frenzy" at International Quilt Study Center & Museum will celebrate all things related to the petite workhorse sewing machines made by Singer from the 1930s to the 1960s. Please join us Thursday, June 22 to Saturday, June 24 at International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. Highlights will include Pam and JC Elliott and their rare Featherweight collection all three days.

The rare Featherweight collection of JC and Pam Elliott from Casper, Wyoming, will also be on hand, along with a Vintage Marketplace on Friday, June 23 featuring antique fabrics and sewing collectibles.

The Elliotts will present a “fireside chat” at 4 p.m. on June 23, and Montgomery will give her most popular lecture “A Century of Progress: The Chicago World’s Fair of 1933 and Its Quilt Contest ” at 5:30 p.m. This lecture looks at the Featherweight’s history as it relates to the Depression-era event, and features information related to quilts and textile history. Numerous historical items related to the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair will be displayed.

The all-day Featherweight maintenance workshops on June 22 and 24 are for anyone who owns a Featherweight sewing machine and wants to treat it to a “spa day” for a lifetime of trouble-free sewing. Tickets are available in two forms: A Feather Passport is for one Featherweight Maintenance Workshop and all the events of Friday, June 23, including museum admission both days. A separate ticket is available for just the events of June 23.
