Chance Encounter: The Quilts of Emiko Toda Loeb

Tuesday, November 8, 2016
Description: After immigrating to the U.S. in the late 1970s, Emiko Toda Loeb encountered quilts and discovered that they were her ideal artistic expression. She creates complex works with a variety of global fabrics—Japanese and otherwise—often employing the unique reversible Log Cabin technique she developed. Featuring a range of geometric and biomorphic shapes, Toda Loeb's quilts are a meditation on the range of novel, artistic forms a traditional technique such as quiltmaking can take.
