Project Pincushion Update

Blue Valley Quilters Guild in Overland Park, KS, recently donated 88 pincushions to Project Pincushions. These are in addition to the 21 pincushions they donated earlier.

After seeing the cute Hexie Pincushion tutorial by Nicole Daksiewicz on ModernHandcraft.com, the guild obtained permission from Nicole to make the pincushions for Project Pincushion. Nicole was as excited about their plan as the guild was. A sewing day was scheduled for viewing the tutorial and making pincushions. The results were amazing!

While part of the guild was making hexie pincushions, other members were coming up with their own designs. Joanne Johnson used miniature log cabin blocks to make these spectacular pincushions.

These lovely pincushions are bound to sell out fast so make plans now to visit the International Quilt Study Center and Museum and pick several up in the Quilt House give shop. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Friends Art Market, November 16-17. All of your holiday shopping can be accomplished in one place while helping to support the museum.
