International Quilt Study Center

Holdings

C.Y. Thompson Library houses the majority of the University's textile-related publications. The library holdings in the area of quilt studies rank among the best in the nation. The University's Archives and Special Collections are another resource available to scholars.

The addition of the American Quilt Study Group Research Library, also housed in the C. Y. Thompson Library, has further enhanced an already strong textile history and textile science library collection at UNL. The Sally Garoutte Core Collection and AQSG's rare editions are located in Special Collections at Love Library on UNL's City Campus.

The American Quilt Study Group Research Library now can be accessed via the Internet by visiting the UNL Libraries catalog. A search using author or title or a keyword search of the "Sally Garoutte Core Collection" will bring up a list of titles catalogued for Special Collections. A keyword search of the "American Quilt Study Group Research Library" will generate a list of the cataloged collection. The University of Nebraska has also begun accepting selected quilting artifacts, ephemera and archives that will build upon the strong research materials that Special Collections currently holds.

Archives and Special Collections include varied materials that support quilt-related research and scholarship. The collections include the American Quilt Study Group (AQSG) Research Library and Records along with the research files of Sally Garoutte, Pat Ferrero, Florence Peto, Julie Silber and others collected by AQSG. Additional collections include the papers of Jonathan Holstein, Michael James, and Penny McMorris.
