Quilt Identification Days

Quilt Identification Days

How do you get a quilt to talk? Every quilt has a story but often the story dies with the quiltmaker. What do you know about that family heirloom tucked in the closet? Learn more about your quilt’s history at Quilt Identification Days scheduled throughout the year at the International Quilt Study Center & Museum.

Staff and trained volunteers examine quilts and offer information about patterns, fabrics, styles and estimated age. A history form and documentation label is be completed for each quilt.

This event has grown in popularity as people research and record their family histories. Quilts are often the most lasting and cherished pieces of material memory connecting families past and present.

The public is encouraged to call (402)472-6549 to reserve a time slot for the next Quilt Indentification Day (dates are shown on the website calendar. Use the VIEW drop down box to select Quilt Identification Days). The cost for the service is $10 per quilt, plus museum admission for non-members, and $8 per quilt for museum members.
